Ansenmei and Schaeffler expand cooperation and launch a new plug-in hybrid vehicle platform based on EliteSiC
2025-07-28
Shanghai, China - July 28, 2025- Onsemi (NASDAQ: ON) announced the expansion of its partnership with leading drive technology company Schaeffler, adopting Onsemi's next-generation silicon carbide MOSFET EliteSiC product line in a new design bid project. Anson's solution will be integrated into Schaeffler's main drive inverter for an advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) platform from a leading global automaker.
Ansenmei's EliteSiC technology has significantly reduced conduction losses and excellent short-circuit resistance, enabling compact and highly efficient inverter designs, thereby improving overall system performance. Compared with other SiC solutions in the same category, this silicon carbide based solution has industry-leading ultra-low on resistance and can provide higher peak power. These advantages have helped Schaeffler develop innovative main drive inverter systems, bringing significant benefits to end customers, including:
·Higher energy conversion efficiency for longer driving range
·Higher reliability ensures stable operation and reduces maintenance requirements
·Optimized exterior dimensions provide higher flexibility in vehicle design
Christopher Breitsameter, Global Head of Schaeffler's Control Business Unit, said, "The main drive inverter is the core of every electrified transmission system, and Anson's EliteSiC solution plays a crucial role in achieving the energy efficiency and performance goals required by customers. ”
As car manufacturers increasingly prioritize energy efficiency and performance, the industry is transitioning towards more advanced hybrid architectures, even on cost sensitive electric vehicle platforms previously dominated by insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT). As a leader in the field of silicon carbide, Ansenmei is leading this technological transformation and helping Schaeffler develop electric vehicle systems that meet both stringent performance requirements and packaging specifications.
As the exclusive silicon carbide supplier for this project, Anson continues to consolidate its position as a trusted innovation partner for leading global automakers, "said Simon Keeton, President of Anson Power Solutions." Our industry-leading silicon carbide semiconductor technology provides superior energy efficiency, heat dissipation performance, and power density, which are key driving factors for the next generation of electric powertrain systems, not only applicable to pure electric vehicles but also to plug-in hybrid platforms
This new milestone is based on the existing long-term cooperation foundation between Ansenmei and Schaeffler (which took over the original cooperation after the acquisition of Weipai Technology by Schaeffler). It not only continues the strategic cooperation between the two parties for many years, but also further strengthens their commitment to providing efficient electric mobility solutions.
